Fujisawa makes much of Peace and International Exchanges. In June 1982, Fujisawa made a Declaration for Peace and the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons, which was based on the citizen’s desire for peace. In addition, Fujisawa started a sister-city relationship with Miami Beach, Florida, U.S.A. in 1959, with Kunming, Yunnan, China in 1981, with Windsor, Ontario, Canada in 1987, and with Boryeong, Chungchengnam-do, Korea in 2002. Within Japan, Fujisawa also has a sister-city relationship with Matsumoto in Nagano.
